- Packaging: Securely wrapped to protect the stems and thorns during transit.
🌹 Your Climbing Rose is Resting!
A Winter Guide from Florescofolia
Thank you for choosing a Florescofolia Climbing Rose. To ensure your rose bursts into a wall of fragrant blooms this summer, it has arrived in its natural Winter Dormant state.
Why does my rose look like bare stems?
Roses are deciduous. During the winter, they drop their leaves to focus all their energy on building a strong root system. While it looks like “just a few thorny sticks” right now, the magic is happening underground!
The “Scratch Test” (Proof of Life)
If you are worried, gently scratch a tiny sliver of the green or brown bark on a main stem with your fingernail.
- Green/White underneath? Your rose is healthy, hydrated, and ready for Spring.
- Brown/Brittle? Please contact us with a photo.
🧤 Winter Care Instructions
- Planting: If the ground isn’t frozen, you can plant your rose now! Dig a hole twice the size of the pot and add some well-rotted compost.
- Watering: Very little is needed in winter. If kept in a pot, only water when the top 2 inches of soil are bone-dry.
- Position: Roses love the sun! Plant it against a sunny wall, trellis, or fence.
- Training: Now is the perfect time to loosely tie the stems to your support (trellis/wires). For more flowers, try to tie the stems horizontally—this encourages more side-shoots!
🌸 The Summer Reward
In late March or April, you will see tiny red or green “eyes” (buds) appearing on the stems. Once leaves start to unfurl, give it a high-potash “Rose Food” to encourage those stunning flowers!
